Back CavinKare launches second ‘Vegnation’ Our Bureau Chennai, Nov. 1 The Chennai-based FMCG major, CavinKare, has announced the launch of its second restaurant ‘Vegnation’ in the city. The company took over an up and running 180-cover restaurant ‘Palimar’ and rechristened it as ‘Vegnation’. “We have also tweaked the menu to suit different palates and introduced a host of new items here,” said Mr C.K. Ranganathan, Chairman and Managing Director of the company. The Rs 700-crore company forayed into the restaurant business early this year with its first outlet ‘CK’s Foodstaurant’ in Puducherry. While ‘CK’s Foodstaurant’ dishes out both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items, Vegnation will be a pure vegetarian restaurant. On its future plans, Mr Ranganathan said, “Though our intention is to try out a couple of other formats under different brand names, we will also expand our ‘CK’s Foodstaurant’ brand with more outlets in Chennai and other cities in the State, as it turned out to be a successful venture.” According to him, CavinKare is also considering expansion through the franchisee route. “After a couple of more company-owned outlets, we will resort to the franchisee route for expansion,” he said. Started as a shampoo company, CavinKare is now a major player in the personal care products and foods spaces. Of the Rs 700-crore turnover, 70 per cent comes from its personal care products division, while the rest from the foods business. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu Business Line |
