Sundar Coonoor, Oct 14 An analysis of the buying pattern indicates that this week, as many as 35 marks of CTC teas manufactured by private small-scale factories, popularly called bought-leaf factories, shot up to the Rs 100 price-band at Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auctions. “Overall, this shows that Nilgiri tea offers have quality and buyers are prepared to support them with high-bids”, an auctioneer told Business Line on Tuesday. High-bid bracketHomedale Tea Factory’s five marks, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, remained in the high-bid bracket. Four marks of Darmona Estate, auctioned by J Thomas & Co, remained in this bracket – RD and SRD, Rs 120 each, BOPF Rs 115 and BP Rs 105. Similarly, some 35 marks of orthodox teas from corporate sector ruled over Rs 100 a kg.
