Back TN Chamber warns of strike over power cuts

The Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Chief Minister and Electricity Minister to take expeditious steps to make the industries run without any load shedding. If no concrete steps were taken before October 31, industries would have no option but to close their units and take a decision for indulging in agitations, the chamber has warned.

In a statement here, it said the extension of the duration of power cuts to a total of 9.5 hours daily was an indirect direction to the industries to close their units. The move has given rise to a sense of resentment among the trade and industrial sectors.

The chamber called upon the State to bear the additional cost involved in captive power generation by industries or buy the power produced by the industries at the cost price and distribute it through TNEB.
