Back Outlay for uranium exploration

In a bid to step up uranium resources to fuel the domestic nuclear power programme, the Centre has cleared a Rs 200-crore outlay for prospecting and exploring potential areas during the Eleventh and Twelfth Plan periods. The move is aimed at augmenting additional uranium resources to the tune of 75,000 tonnes. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Friday gave its nod for the project aimed at `Prospecting and exploration of potential areas for augmentation of uranium resources' at its meeting here. The project cost entails an outlay of Rs 120 crore for the Eleventh Plan and another Rs 80 crore during the Twelfth Plan, the Minister for Science and Technology, Mr Kapil Sibal, said. . - Our Bureau
