Back Calvin Klein expanding presence Our Bureau Bangalore, June 4 American premium fashion brand Calvin Klein has aggressive retail plans for India. The brand has nine stores — two standalone stores (in Delhi) and seven shop-in-shops — in the country. It plans to have in place 30 stores (combination of shop-in-shops and freestanding stores) by March 2009. Currently, Calvin Klein has stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. This year, the brand hopes to enter Chennai, Hyderabad and Punjab, said Mr Oliver Kaye, Business Head, Calvin Klein. Mr Kaye was in the city to launch the brand’s spring summer ’08 collection at its newly opened shop-in-shop at the Lifestyle Oasis mall. Calvin Klein has also opened a store at the new Bangalore airport for “strategic reasons”, said Mr Kaye. Although it is primarily known for denim wear, Calvin Klein’s collection for both men and women includes sweatshirts, shirts, skirts, and tops, apart from bags and other accessories. The denim wear is priced at Rs 3,995-6,000. Calvin Klein also sells underwear, predominantly for men, through seven of its nine stores. It also has one freestanding store in Delhi. By the end of March 2009, we plan to have 60 points of sales, Mr Kaye said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu Business Line |
