Referred to as Real Time Learning, the focus is not just on mere skill upgradation but helping build stronger bonding between company associates and its customers, according to Mr Ed Cohen, Senior Vice-President, Satyam School of Leadership. Mr Cohen told Business Line that over the last few years, the nature and scope of learning has increased significantly and the mandate is so huge that the content generated and the learning imparted is like that of an university. Satyam learning helps associates be part of the customer sites in the process, where learning is delivered virtually, he said. On an average, the company provides about 60 hours of learning a year and invests about $1,500 a person. This compares with some of the technology sector peers. “Alongside these initiatives, we have also partnered with the likes of U21Global, helping groom managers and are engaged indirectly with Universities of Stanford, Harvard, and ISB in several courses and take to case studies,” Mr Cohen said. “The Learning School has representatives from 14 countries and has become a powerful medium and a catalyst for the company. As companies find new ways to improve efficiencies, at Satyam we believe virtual learning as a strategic differentiator,” he said. And Planet Satyam, which manages a radio and TV channel, complementing learning, handles over 100 programmes targeting the company associates, he added. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu Business Line |
