Back JSW Steel post output growth Mumbai, April 2 JSW Steel Ltd said that following the merger of Southern Iron & Steel Company Ltd (SISCOL) with it, the company had posted a growth of 37 per cent in crude steel production for the year ended March 2008. On a comparable basis, JSW Steel said a 20 per cent growth in volume of crude steel production was seen even after excluding 4.55 lakh tonnes of crude steel produced by the erstwhile SISCOL. The Hot Strip mill recorded a highest ever production of 27.15 lakh tonnes dur ing the year with a capacity utilization of 108 per cent. The company said that the production of crude steel was 36.26 lakh tonnes, HR coils – 27.15 lakh tonnes (18 per cent), HR plates- 2.27 lakh tones (24 per cent), Long products- 3.29 lakh tonnes, Galvanised and galvalume - 7.56 lakh tonnes (6 per cent), and pre painted GI/GL- 0.90 lakh tones (74 per cent) over the previous year figures. — Our Bureau © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu Business Line |
