Back AP: Urban Land Ceiling Act repealed Our Bureau Hyderabad, March 27 The State Government on Thursday repealed the Urban Land Ceiling Act, which is likely to ease up about 28,752 acres in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vizag and other major cities in the State. The State Legislative Assembly passed a resolution which was adopted here amidst protests and walkout by members of Telugu Desam, CPI and CPM. All these years, this land was caught up in litigation and will now go back to people who own them. The State Revenue Minister, Mr D. Prasada Rao, announced that a decision would be taken within a week on the remaining 18,000 acres of surplus land already in the Government possession. The Minister said that the repeal would free up more land for development and spur economic activity. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu Business Line |
