Back Bharat Forge to set up manufacturing facility in Baramati

Mumbai, March 27 Forged and machined components manufacturer Bharat Forge signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra Government on Thursday for setting up a centre for advanced manufacturing facility at Baramati.

The centre, spread over 100 acres, will be set up at an investment of Rs 350 crore. With a forging capacity of 30,000 tpa, the plant will make crankshafts for marine and power, landing gear, engine and structural parts for aircraft and helicopters, connecting rods for locomotives and equaliser bars, spindles and other heavy components for machines used in construction activity.

Mr B.N. Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd, said the company had a strong global presence and any automobile would have at least two components made by it. The facility was the first major project outside Pune and the company was confident of strengthening Baramati’s position as a fast growing industrial centre.

Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, assuring Bharat Forge of all assistance to take the project forward, said he was confident that the venture would accelerate the industrial growth of the region.

Mr V. K. Jairath, Principal Secretary (Industries), who signed the MoU with Mr Kalyani said, “Through our association with Bharat Forge for establishing this world-class centre, we take a step forward towards our goal of boosting the economic development in the State through rapid industrialisation. We have constantly endeavoured to accelerate sustainable development through industrial growth across the State of Maharashtra.”
