Back CII initiative with Delhi University

Our Bureau

New Delhi, March 4 The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Delhi to offer short-term courses in high demand sectors.

The objective is to provide employable skills to undergraduate students and to provide skilled manpower to the industry, Prof Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, said.

He lauded the initiative taken by the industry and said that with support from CII it was a win-win situation all round — for students, for the university as well as for the industry.

Course matters

Elaborating on the initiative, Mr Vijay Thadani, Chairman, CII National Committee on Education, said that six-month short courses will be offered to students in the automobiles, retail, and IT/ITES sectors from July 1 onwards at the Keshavpuram centre of Campus of Open Learning.

The model would subsequently be scaled up to offer courses in healthcare, biotechnology and media.

These courses will equip students to join relevant industries at the entry-level.
