Back Silent on employment The Budget 2008 seems to be euphoric in nature. Since the waiver of loans to small and marginal farmers amounts to around Rs 60,000 crore, which I feel would make it difficult to contain the impact of inflation it will produce in the long run. As the son of a farmer I am happy to get that slice of cake, but when viewed holistically we need measures that favour the development of the nation as a whole. Although the budget focuses on various sectors, it is totally silent on employment. Therefore my concern is that the potential of the country’s youth population, among the highest in the world, should be channelled in the right way.
