Back BA’s green initiatives

British Airways has launched new green initiatives to intensify its work in limiting aviation’s impact on carbon change. The new carbon offset scheme unveiled by the airline is backed by projects which include Mahasamund power plant in Chattisgarh in India where rice husk is combusted to generate electricity, run-of-river hydro-electric power plants in the Santa Catarina region of Brazil and Gansu province in China and a wind farm in China’s Ningxia province. The scheme is user-friendly with customers able to buy their offset in one transaction when they book their flights on ba.com. The scheme will be run with Morgan Stanley, the provider in the sourcing of certified emissions reductions from projects developed under the UN Kyoto Protocol.
