Back Volvo hopes to sell 500 cars this year

New Delhi, Jan. 9

Bullish on the growing luxury car segment in the country, Volvo Car India said that it expects to sell 500 cars in India during 2008. At present, the company sells the S80 sedan and XC90 luxury sports utility vehicle that were launched in September last year. About 100 cars have already been booked of both the models since the launch, said Mr Paul De Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Car India. At the Auto Expo here today, the company launched the C70, a second generation co nvertible that has been priced in the range of Rs 44-46 lakh. The C70 will be available with three petrol and two diesel engine options. The company has three dealerships, one each in Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh and is expanding it to 7-9 during the year, added Mr Voijs.
