Mumbai, Dec. 13 Eaton India, which is part of the US-based $12.4-billion Eaton Corporation, the diversified industrial manufacturers, said that it will come up with truck transmissions manufactured in its Ranjangaon plant in April 2008.

“The plant is already operational and has started manufacturing on a trial basis. We will start production on a regular basis in April. We are in talks with the OEMs for the supply of our truck transmissions,” said Mr Shyam P. Kambeyanda, newly-appointed Managing Director of Eaton Corporation India.

Eaton, which manufactures power control systems and hydraulic systems other than automotive components, had introduced its Powerware 9395 275-550 kVA uninterruptible power system (UPS) to meet the current and future power protection requirements for large system applications in the domestic market in November.

Eaton began its operations in India in 1999 by acquiring two manufacturing plants for hydraulic components in Pune and Mumbai.

“The company is expanding its presence in Asia-Pacific region. We expect a market of $2.5 billion in this region of which China alone accounts for $1 billion for the next financial year. The rest is to come from other countries, including India,” said Mr Kambeyanda.
