Back UK visa centres closed from Dec 7-11

New Delhi, Dec. 3 The UK Visa Application Centres operated by VFS Global across India will be closed from December 7 to 11. The centres will, however, be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for passport collection only during the closure period.

The visa sections at the British High Commission in New Delhi and Deputy High Commissions in Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai will be closed.

Technical upgradation

The closures are to allow for further technical upgrades and staff training in preparation for the introduction of biometric data collection as part of the UK visa application process in India.

On December 12, all offices will re-open for the submission of visa applications. “We are pleased to announce that the introduction of biometrics to India allows UK visas to reintroduce longer-term visas to the UK.

“Since it will be necessary to provide biometric data each time an application is made for a UK visa, we encourage regular travellers to the UK to consider the convenience of applying for our longer-term visa,” said a press note.
