Back ICWAI global management meet in Jan

Kochi, Dec. 1 To attain international standards for students and members, the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India (ICWAI) is organising a global summit on management accounting in New Delhi from January 10-12.

Prof Robert Kaplan, an expert on Activity Based Costing will address the gathering and participate in the deliberations.

The co-hosts in the summit are Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. IMA USA, CMA Canada and CIMA, UK are the technical partners, a press release issued here said.

To upgrade educational skills of students, the institute is also introducing new a syllabus from January 1. Under the new syllabus, a student will be required to undergo the mandatory practical training of three years. From the institute’s side, all efforts are being made to upgrade the knowledge of members by introducing specialised post-qualification courses such as valuation, financial services and system audit.

Recently, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs had hosted a concept paper on the Council of Valuation Professionals of India in the MCA Web site inviting comments from the public. In the concept paper, ICWAI has been considered as the recognised institute, by which its members can opt for the new area of practice, the release said.
