Inaugurates largest development centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct. 17 Enterprise software provider Computer Associates (CA) today announced plans to further step up its research and development work in India while inaugurating its largest development centre in Hyderabad.

The President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Swainson, said that the company now employs about 30 per cent of the total R&D workforce in India. It wants to expand further in the country, as it embarks on development of new products.

“The company invested $30 million (about Rs 120 crore) in the India Technology Centre, and employs over 1,650 people. We continue to expand the R&D teams here and partner with large systems integrators such as Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Satyam, to help deploy infrastructure management solutions,” Mr Swainson said. Addressing a press conference at its new campus located near Hyderabad, he said that the development teams in India would take lead role in advancing CA’s Enterprise IT Management vision of unifying and simplifying IT management.

Asked about plans to pursue acquisitions, the CEO said that the company continues to evaluate opportunities for acquisitions. The technology centre has the mandate to work on new products in the areas of IT infrastructure management and wireless applications that help employees access enterprise information on mobile devices such as Blackberry, Symbion and the Windows platform-based handhelds.

The Vice-President, Development, CA India Technology Centre, Mr Sridhar Parimi, said that engineers at the Hyderabad centre have developed two products for global applications.
