Our Bureau Bangalore Sept. 11 Wipro Technologies, the global IT arm of Wipro Ltd, said on Tuesday that it planned to set up a development centre at Monterrey, Mexico. The announcement coincided with the visit of the Mexican President, Mr Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, to the Wipro campus in Bangalore on Tuesday. The Monterrey facility provides Wipro with the dedicated resources to service clients in North America, Latin America and Europe with bi-lingual talent in a convenient time zone and close proximity. Further, it strengthens the company’s global delivery capabilities, Wipro said in a press release. Time zone
In the first phase, Wipro’s Mexican development centre will have 100 seats. “This facility will help establish our capabilities in the Central time zone, which allows us to better serve our North American clients and their operations in Latin America. In addition, it will also strengthen our market presence in the region,” said Mr A.L. Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Wipro Ltd. Wipro chose to establish a presence in Mexico because of the broad language skills available in the region, its geographical proximity to Canada, the US and Europe. Latin America is a strong emerging market and one where many of Wipro’s clients have operations.
