Our Bureau New Delhi, Sept. 5 GAIL (India) has achieved mechanical completion of its new HDPE (high density polyethylene) Plant at the petrochemical complex at Pata. The GAIL Chairman and Managing Director, Dr U.D. Choubey, formally marked the completion by opening the plant on Tuesday at Pata. The capacity of the new HDPE plant is 1-lakh TPA and is based on technology from Mitsui, Japan. With the completion of the new HDPE plant, the polymer capacity of the Pata Petrochemical plant has increased to 4,10,000 TPA from 3,10,000 TPA. The project was completed within the estimated project cost of Rs 647.38 crore. GAIL is also setting up a 2,80,000 TPA polymer capacity at Dibrugarh in Assam at an investment of Rs 5,460.61 crore through a joint venture company Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd.
