Pune, Aug. 20 Singapore-based Global Indian Foundation (GIF) announced the opening of the Global Indian International School at Pune. It was inaugurated by Mr R.R. Patil, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra. The Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Values and Thoughts was also launched on the occasion.

Speaking about the Mahatma Gandhi Centre, Mr Justice C. Dharmadhikari, Chairman, GIIS, said, “The Centre will work on inculcating Gandhian values and principles amongst students. There will be books and videos on the philosophy and lives of Gandhi and philosophers like J. Krishnamurthy, which will be a source of inspiration for students.”

He added that this was being undertaken as a community project, and all schools wanting information on literature or videos, or any expertise on Gandhian values could access it.

The GIIS is a non-profit initiative of GIF and the Pune-based real-estate developers Goel Ganga Group.
