Back Govt keen on Posco project: Paswan

New Delhi, July 24 The Union Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, has said that the Government is interested in facilitating the Posco steel project in Orissa.

The Minster has conveyed this to the Korean Ambassador to India, Mr Paek Young Sun, when the envoy called on him in the Capital on Tuesday.

Welcoming the investment programme, the Minister said the Government has set up an Inter-Ministerial Group headed by the Secretary, Ministry of Steel, to expedite the implementation of large steel projects. Mr Paswan said Korean companies such as Hyundai, Dusan, Samsung and Posco had vast experience in heavy engineering and construction, and can participate in the expansion programme of SAIL and RINL.

According to the Ministry, the Korean envoy said this was the single largest overseas investment proposal for India and sought the cooperation of the Minister in this regard.
