Back ‘10% growth achievable in 2008-09’
Our Bureau New Delhi, July 17 The Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, said on Tuesday that it was possible for the country to achieve a 10 per cent economic growth in fiscal 2008-09. “Achieving a 10 per cent growth in 2007-08 is tough, but it is possible in 2008-09. That will be a fitting finale for the UPA government’s five year tenure,” Mr Chidambaram said in his address at the India Policy Forum here. India’s GDP grew 9.4 per cent in 2006-07. As per the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, the country’s GDP is poised to achieve 9 per cent growth in fiscal 2007-08.
