Back Arecanut price dips

Our Bureau

Kottayam, June 26

The arecanut price is ruling very low due to stagnation in the market. The manufacturers in North India are major buyers who, it is said, are reluctant to place new orders for the material. There is no demand for arecanut and the price has come down to Rs 62-67 a kg. The supply position is also not different. There were no new arrivals mainly due to incessant rains. Those who hold the stocks are unwilling to release them, hoping that the price might pick up once the season changes. Two months ago prices were ruling slightly better with Rs 70-77 a kg.
