Mahindra Renault's Logan sales at 2,786 in May

Mumbai June 2 Mahindra Renault sold 2,786 units of Logan last month. The car that made its debut on April 3 was initially launched in 11 cities.

Mr Rajesh Jejurikar, Managing Director, Mahindra Renault, said: "Logan has delivered much beyond our expectations. Mahindra Renault's car has a great showing of 2,786 numbers in the first month of sales. This is significant considering that we are currently only in 40 per cent of the markets. We expect the numbers to go up significantly as production and regional launches are ramped up over the next couple of months," he said.

The Logan made its debut with a host of class-defying features.

Bookings opened in dealerships across Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Nashik, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, and deliveries started in the first week of May said a press release.

Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) consolidated its leadership in the automotive segment in May with total vehicle sales of 18,116 units, a growth of 49.5 per cent over the corresponding month of the previous year.

Dr Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive Sector, M&M, said: "We have clocked a growth of 49.5 per cent in line with our endeavour to give customers the best in class vehicles at best in class prices. Joining the stable in May is our commercial vehicles which have notched record 1,006 numbers."

Mr Jejurikar said: "Mahindra has sustained its utility vehicle leadership clocking 10,986 units in May as against 8,945 units last fiscal. The Scorpio continued its growth trajectory month on month, showing a rise of 31 per cent. Utility vehicles, including the Scorpio and the Bolero range, sold over 10,986 units in May, compared with 8,945 last year. The company's automotive sector clocked sales of 802 units in May as opposed to 486 units in the corresponding period last fiscal."
