Mumbai May 15 Suzlon Energy Ltd, the world's fifth largest wind turbine generator, has posted a 21.56 per cent growth in net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007, fuelled by growth in its international businesses.

The company posted a net profit of Rs 437.82 crore compared with Rs 360.16 crore. It clocked a total income of Rs 2,097.55 crore against Rs 1,579.60 crore.

Mr Tulsi Tanti, Suzlon's Chairman and Managing Director, said that growth in international businesses had been a significant factor this year with total manufactured and supplied capacity for 2006-07 being 1676 MW.

The company posted a net profit of Rs 1,061.14 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007, up 29.21 per cent from the corresponding period last year. It clocked total income of Rs 5,468.47 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007.

On Suzlon's bid for German turbine manufacturer REpower, Mr Tanti said that they would watch till the last three days, when REpower shareholders will decide.

There is no possibility of extension of the cut-off date of May 24 for the REpower acquisition.

Suzlon's bid at 150 euro per share is higher than the bid by the Paris-based Areva. Unwilling to speculate on whether Suzlon would further up its bid, Mr Tanti did not rule out the possibility of a cold increase by both Suzlon and Areva.

"The shares have to be bought off the market and at whatever price you buy it will be the bid price," he said.
