Back Tirupur exporters' body hails export policy Our Bureau
Coimbatore April 19 The Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) has said that exempting the exporters from payment of service tax for services rendered abroad and also services rendered within the country and utilising the same by exporters would go to enhancing the export competitiveness. Welcoming the annual export policy, the TEA also maintained that allowing reimbursement of cost of duty on fuel and special additional duty under DEPB scheme was a positive feature. So also was the removal of block wise fulfilment of export obligation under EPCG that would help the shippers to tide over the export distortions and currency fluctuations. The TEA President, Mr A Sakthivel, in a statement issued here, however, expressed disappointment over the non-inclusion of readymade garments under the special focus product scheme and the failure to allow fringe benefit tax exemption for the exporters.
