Incremental benefit to families of fallen policemen

Hyderabad April 19 The Andhra Pradesh Government has appointed an Anomalies Committee to look into issues pertaining to the Pay Revision Commission, 2005 and make suitable recommendations.

The Chairman of the Anomalies Committee, Mr N. Rangachary, said in a press release that the committee would also work out the financial cost on account of its recommendations and submit its report to the State Government. The terms of reference for the Committee include taking into account the conditions of service, existing master scale, parities, perquisites in cash or kind and also to keep in view the financial position of the State Government.

The committee will examine representations from service organisations, associations and individuals on the recommendations of the Pay Commission, 2005.

While urging people and organisations to send in their representatives before May 19, 2007, the release clarified that issues such as new parities with various cadres in different departments or sanction of higher quantum of various allowances or adding new categories for sanctioning allowances will not be construed as anomalies and will not come under the purview of the committee.

Incremental Benefit

In another development, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, sanctioned the incremental benefits (already drawn in old scales) in the revised pay scales to the families of those police personnel who died in extremist violence while continuing to get their pay and allowances in the compassionate jobs provided to them.

The Chief Minister also agreed to sanction DA along with the revised pay scales for those who have not taken the compassionate appointments. It may be recalled here that the families of the deceased police personnel made a representation to the Chief Minister some time back that though the last pay drawn was being paid to them it was not being revised as per the successive Pay Revision Commission scales. Hence the benefit was inadequate.

The Chief Minister today held a meeting on this issue and decided to extend the benefit to the deceased families so that they are given the corresponding incremental benefit in the revised pay scales.
