Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) and the Union Ministry of Steel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 2007-2008, according to which the plant would produce 4.10 million tonnes of hot metal, 3.62 MT of liquid steel and 3.21 MT of saleable steel during the year. The capacity utilisation would be 121 per cent.

Expansion works relating to coke oven battery-4, pulverised coal injection and air separation plant, involving expenditure of Rs 1,690 crore, were included in the MoU signed in New Delhi. Mr Raghav Sharan Pandey, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, and Mr Y. Sivasagara Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of the plant, signed the MoU.
