Back `Liberalisation of FDI policy soon'

The Government is likely to announce further liberalisation of foreign direct investment (FDI) policy within the next few weeks. The steps would be initiated in areas of infrastructure and the services sector within the next few weeks.

This was indicated by the Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Dr Ajay Dua, here today. Speaking at the Indo-German SMEs Congress, Mr Dua said that the mode of entry and the foreign equity was reviewed periodically and that in the next four to six weeks "further liberalisation can be expected can be expected with respect to physical infrastructure and the services sectors." He also pointed out that FDI has yielded rich dividends for the manufacturing sector.
