Our Bureau

Kolkata March 12 The small quantity of CTC leaf and dust teas on offer sold readily with prices following quality. The nominal weight of clean teas on offer sold at firm to dearer rates. All sections of the domestic market lent support. The nominal weight of orthodox teas on offer sold at fully firm rates. There was fair enquiry from CIS countries with local and North India buyers being active.

The temperature, lower than normal in the growing regions, is unlikely to have any lasting impact on crop prospects.

The production in Kenya has shown recovery.

In Colombo, all teas met with strong international demand and prices continued to move upwards. Demand escalated with reports of production in Indonesia having declined, creating a shortfall in the availability of orthodox teas.
