Back Record price for Havukal Estate tea

A small parcel of tea comprising of 160 kg of SFTGFOP variety manufactured from the Havukal estates was contracted today at a record price of Rs 800 per kg through a private transaction. The tea was sold by Caritt Moran and Company Ltd, Kochi and purchased by Vimal Tea Company and JFK International, Kochi, a press release issued here said. Havukal estate is located at a high altitude in the Nilgiris and the cold and misty weather at that elevation provides the distinctive quality attributes to Havukal teas. The teas from Havukal estates have long been adjudged as one of the best teas produced from the district.
