LOWER VALUE: A vendor selling fried cashewnut in street corner in Thrissur, Kerala. Exports of cashew from the country increased marginally to 89,586 tonnes, worth Rs 1,866.64 crore, in the first nine months of the current fiscal against 86,404 tonnes, valued at Rs 1,929.30 crore, during the same period a year ago. The drop in unit value could be attributed to improved supply position in major cashew processing centres. Current equilibrium in demand and supply position may prompt cashew prices to rule steady.
