Central aid for rural development

The Centre has released Rs 4,60,61,000 as the second instalment of the Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) scheme for four district rural development agencies of West Bengal in the current year. While Rs 211.38 lakh has been released for Burdwan, Rs 84.5 lakh went to Hooghly and Rs 95.23 lakh to South Dinajpur, respectively. West Midnapore was given Rs 69.5 lakh. The grant will be utilised for approved works subject to the conditions laid down in the guidelines under the SGSY programme. The funding pattern will be 75:25 by the Centre and the State. West Bengal is supposed to release its share within a month of the date of Central assistance.
