World Phone charges slashed

In a move aimed at taking on the grey marketeers in international telephony segment, the World Phone Internet Services Pvt Ltd, an Internet telephony service provider has dropped tariffs to 95 paise a minute for calls to over 30 countries. Consumers will have to buy pre-paid cards available in various denomination ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 and make calls to countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Singapore and Switzerland.
At present, World Phone negotiates over 10 million international call minutes through itsnetwork every month. Traditional international long distance operators such as Bharti offers ISD calls to the US for around Rs 7 per minute. However, consumers can use services such as Skype to make international calls through the Internet at much cheaper rates.
