Kolkata, Jan. 11

A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Justice Mr D. P. Sengupta and Justice Mr P. K. Deb on Thursday granted conditional bail to Mr Ghanashyam Sarda, one of the accused in the case pertaining to supply of defective blood test kits to labs in the city.

Mr Sarda was arrested in mid October 2006, and was in custody for 77 days. While granting bail, the court stipulated that he meet Mr Bhagirath Ghosh, the Investigating Officer of the case, on Monday and Friday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Lalbazar (Police headquarters), surrender his passport to the Investigating Officer and not leave city jurisdiction without permission of the court. On a complaint filed by two officers of Monozyme India Ltd, police started investigations in September 2006 regarding supply of the defective kits. Mr Sarda was arrested in that connection at the Kolkata Airport while trying to leave the city.
