The Technopark-based US Technology has launched a campus partnership programme as part of which IT and BPO services player will reach out to a select list of `promising' colleges in the State.

These partnerships will work towards elevating educational standards in tune with the present demands of the job market in the progressively competitive IT sector, a company spokesperson said here. US Technology will offer its superior knowledge and training services to colleges selected under the programme.

The programme has been initiated in the backdrop of the "unemployability factor" that has come to be associated with fresh grads passing out of colleges. It seeks to bridge the yawning gap in competency levels perceived by the employers through the enhancement of IT skills and smoothening of rough edges.

The programme got off to a start on Saturday, in which eight colleges from all over the State participated. Among these were College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram; Mar Baselios College, Thiruvananthapuram; St Joseph's Engineering College, Pala; Rajagiri College, Kochi; GEC, Kannur; Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally; Jyothi College of Engineering, Thrissur; FISAT, Angamally; and St Teresa's College, Ernakulam.

Mr Alexander Varghese, Head, Thiruvananthapuram Centre, US Technology, inaugurated the programme. An interactive session followed, which saw representatives of the company exchange ideas with principals and placement representatives of participating colleges.
