Back Service tax

The recent proposal to extend the service tax net to another 44 items, including legal, education, hotel, health and sports, to compensate for the phasing out of central sales tax (CST) in most States, is like robbing Peter to pay Paul. This will definitely push up prices in all these areas and impact us all.

The salaried class will be worst sufferers. The Finance Minister should reconsider this decision.
