In a bid to expand its Indian operations, Lenovo launched its first India innovation centre in Mumbai today, the company's third after its innovation centres in the US and China. The India centre has been established in partnership with Intel, Microsoft, LANDesk, IBM and Cisco.

The centre will deploy globally developed solutions to specific customer requirements in addition to developing solutions required by Indian customers, said a news release from the company.

The company has a customer centric model in place, which pools resources from its partners as and when required, said a company spokesperson. "By pooling resources with our partners, the centre will serve as a collaboration venue for providing fully integrated solutions," said Mr Neeraj Sharma, Managing Director, Lenovo South Asia.

The company is open to partnering with other companies for specific domain capabilities in the innovation centre, Mr Sharma added.

Lenovo considers channel expansion in the consumer space to be its growth strategy for the future, said Mr Deepak Advani, Senior Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer. "Going forward, we wish to harness the tremendous growth witnessed in semi urban areas," he said, but did not provide further details. Mr Sharma said that Lenovo would continue with its strategy of promotions.
