Back Coffee powder prices up by Rs 10

Coffee traders in Tamil Nadu have upped the price of the powder by Rs 10 a kg to Rs 200/kg. This is the third time that the trade has resorted to the hike in the last 12 months.

The blended powder rate, however, varies between Rs 120 and Rs 170, depending on the coffee-chicory blend proportion. Trade sources are hoping to maintain the rate at the current level at least over the next two months.

"Raw coffee availability and rate are dictated by the planters and they are demanding the export rate. Good coffee availability has also fallen," the trade source told Business Line. The increase in prices does not seem to have had an adverse impact on coffee consumption.
