Computer training for labourers

The West Bengal Labour Welfare Board has granted permission to welfare centres to start computer-training programmes with the objective of encouraging computer literacy among the working population and its dependents. The programmes, according to a press release, will be run by Webel Informatics Ltd. The identified centres will cover the districts of Kolkata, Howrah, North and South 24-Parganas, Hooghly, Burdwan, Nadia, Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. Webel Informatics will actively monitor the selection of faculty, preparation of question papers, answer scripts, etc, apart from providing the course content of the training programmes. Successful candidates will be provided with certificates to be issued jointly by the West Bengal Labour Board and Webel Informatics, the release said.
