Back Insurance officers defer strike

The one-day all-India strike called by the four public sector general insurance companies against the proposed promotion policy has been deferred. The strike has been deferred as the management body of the General Insurers Public Sector Association (GIPSA) has agreed to hold discussions with the officer's association on this matter, Mr P.P. Mohanan, State Vice-President of the General Insurance Officers' All India Association, said.

GIPSA is scheduled to hold detailed discussions with the associations on November 22. Retrenching officers who are not getting promotions for three consecutive years, common seniority list for all the PSU general insurance companies beyond Chief Manager level and filling up of promotion vacancies through written examinations are some of the controversial proposals in the revised promotion scheme, it said.
