Back Energy meet seeks level-playing field

The three-day World Wind Energy Conference held here resolved that the Government must remove all subsidies and enforce a level-playing field for conventional and non-conventional energy sectors and, until this is achieved, pursue compensatory regulatory frameworks that encourage the development of renewable energy sectors, according to an official release.

The conference had participation of more than 900 delegates and exhibitors from the wind and other associated renewable energy sectors. It also resolved to push for policies that provide sufficient financial security to promote long-term investment in the non-conventional energy sectors and seek financial and technological support through institutions such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and other international and national organisations.
