Focus on process, auto ancillary sectors


The exhibition and conference will be held from January 3 to 7

Mega-Tech 2007, the exhibition and conference on engineering and technologies in the process industry and auto ancillaries, will be held here from January 3 to 7.

Talking to presspersons, Mr Subash Dandekar, Chairman, Mega-Tech, said the exhibition, which is being held in the city for the second time, will address the specific needs of the manufacturing community. The event has the support of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and Maharashtra Economic Development Council.

He said about 200 participants are expected to participate in the event and more than 100 have already registered. The exhibition would be classified under three segments — process control and automation; machine tools and accessories for the automobile and engineering companies; and industrial electronics and electricals.

About 55 participants have registered in the machine tools and accessories, about 35 in the process control and automation. He said multinational companies and international brands would also be present at the exhibition.

Commenting on the first exhibition which was held in February this year, Mr Dandekar said about 171 participants had participated of which about 60 per cent were from the Maharashtra region and the rest from South India, mainly Coimbatore (engineering hub), and South Gujarat (process industries). He said the first exhibition had recorded a turnover of Rs 95 lakh and about 13,000 footfalls. This year, the turnover is estimated at Rs 1.25 crore and 15,000 footfalls.

Mr Dandekar added that seminars on setting up of manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, on certifications and product demonstrations would also be held.
