Signs MoU with Sarva Siksha Abhyan

Technology major IBM India has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sarva Siksha Abhyan here that aims at imparting training to 400 teachers of 20 Government schools.

The training is expected to cover two districts in the State over a two-year period with IBM contributing about Rs 2.5 crore per year and matching inputs from the State.

The MoU was signed on Friday in the presence of the State School Education Minister, Mrs N. Rajyalakshmi, and the Vice-President of IBM International, Mr Stanley Littow.

According to a statement, Mr Littow expects the training to yield fruitful results. It would help students in utilising IT and the trained teachers would be able to make a difference in disseminating information and imparting training.

The Minister said this would facilitate imparting better training in mathematics, science, English and allied subjects.

Both IBM and the State would provide matching inputs.

She requested IBM to extend such support to about 1,000 computer schools in the State and 9,000 government schools.

The IBM official expressed willingness to study the proposal.
