Interesting fare at the recent Intel developer forum in Bangalore.

The RURAL PC displayed at the meet.

SMB Stack

Intel showcased its SMB Stack — a package of hardware and software customised for small and medium businesses in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The software offered to businesses are open source applications such as: Sugar CRM (customer relationship management) and Mambo, which is a content management system, a Web site builder.

Another software in the package is a mini-ERP called SQL Ledger. This is a comprehensive enterprise resource planning software, explained an Intel developer.

One-touch recovery

Designed by Intel's Shanghai centre, the Rural PC is being used in India in various states. A unique feature that could be ported to desktops, which would be useful to millions of PC users , is its One-Touch Recovery function. With the push of a special button on the desktop, one could restore the computer to its default factory setting.
