Back Support price of cotton up by Rs 10

The Centre has raised by Rs 10 the support price for two basic varieties of cotton, namely medium staples relating to F-414/H-777/J-34 varieties and long staples relating to H-4/H-6 varieties of the new cotton crop, for 2006-2007. The support price for medium and long staples now stands at Rs 1,770 a quintal and Rs 1,990 respectively. The support prices for other varieties of raw cotton (kapas) are derived from the above rates.
