Back Core sector grows 5.5 pc in August

The output of six core infrastructure industries recorded a 5.5 per cent growth in August against 5.8 per cent growth recorded in the corresponding period last year.

The drop in growth rate could be attributed to the slower growth in coal and cement output. Cumulatively, the output of the six core infrastructure industries grew 6.7 per cent in April-August 2006 against 6.1 per cent in the corresponding period last year.
