Back Spot rubber prices decline

Spot rubber prices declined on Saturday. RSS 4 slipped to Rs 89.50 against Rs 90 and Rs 90.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi.

Futures gain

The futures finished green on NMCE. Though the traders seemed hesitant to build-up fresh positions, covering at lower levels lifted the prices slightly to the positive side towards the end of the session.

The near month September contract closed at Rs 89.75 (Rs 89.38), October contract at Rs 86.75 (Rs 86.54), November contract at Rs 86.29 (Rs 86.16) and December contract at Rs 86.50 (Rs 86.08) per kg for RSS 4.

Prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 89.50 (Rs 90); RSS-5: Rs 87.50 (Rs 88); ungraded: Rs 84 (Rs 85); ISNR 20: Rs 87 (Rs 88) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 71.56 (Rs 72.09).

RSS 4 grade was hammered by slightly improved offers from dealers and growers, while buyers stayed back with lower quotes.

"We expect the availability of the raw materiel to improve gradually as the climate is favourable for production'' sources said. Further, the traders expected a weak opening on Monday as the international indices showed a negative closing on Friday following a technical sell off.
