Back Outsourcing protests?

With two major protests going on in India — against changes in the Right to Information (RTI) Act and cola companies — journalists in the capital came across a curious phenomenon. A series of press releases providing updates on the protests came via e-mail, all from the US!

While the campaign against RTI amendments originated from an organisation called Aid India with contact persons located in Baltimore and Los Angeles, the cola controversy updates were provided by the US-based India Resource Centre.

This Centre's Web site reveals a worldwide movement against Pepsi and Coca Cola, though occasional mention has also been made of other multinational companies, particularly Wal-Mart, and its attempts to enter India. Looks like the world's leading outsourcing destination — India — has outsourced protest coordination to the US.
